Find and Copy Icon from WindowsXP to Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows XP had an icon I loved...a deciduous tree.  I can't find that icon in the System 32 choices on Windows 7.  I really miss that icon to put on one of my folders.  Could anyone tell me how to identify that tree icon on my XP computer, and then copy and install it onto my Windows 7 computer? I'd love to be able to change the icon on my Win7 computer folder to the icon I used to use from Windowsxp.

    Thanks,

  • Try find another on the internet. I don't think it is legal to transfer the artwork licensed by the artist to Microsoft (I think the end user license agreement only allow you to transfer the Windows to another computer as a whole). If the license cover multiple versions of Windows you probably found it already.

  • It's still there in Windows 7...

From the "change Icon" button in your shortcut properties window, browse to C:\Windows\system32\shell32.dll.

I use the same icon as well...

    Take care,
