any problems using WHS backup and other backup software RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I want to know if I use WHS backup (at work) will it conflict with a separate backup program (at home).  I ask because some (if not most) use the archive attribute to determine what needs to be backed up.

I am somewhat new to WHS.  I am using it for my small office with 5 computers.  I have a remote site where I have the WHS.  I have a user (the owner) who will be backed up with WHS when he is at that remote site.  However, most days he may not be there and would want to back up the computer with the WD software that came with the external hard drive which is WD Passport and the software is WD Smartware.

I am not asking specifically about this external hardware and software.

thanks for any help, David :)

  • It shouldn't conflict, no. Windows Home Server uses a different backup methodology so the usual full/incremental/differential backup strategies aren't really a part of the product.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
