Windows Vista Validation Issue

Question
-
I have had a small issue with my validation of Windows Vista. A short while ago, my windows Vista laptop crashed and I lost all of my hard drive - including partitions of the windows Vista install. After reformat, and an unsuccessful attempt at Windows XP (For system speed purposes), I have reinstalled Vista. After a proper install, validation came up and was completed. After a system reboot, I got a pop-up stating that windows was not genuine, specifically mentioning Windows Aero. My apologies for not having the exact pop up wording, as I am going off of memory. After installing the WGA program and validating, it shows me as being validated over the website. Yet it still shows me as invalid in the WGA diag tool. I do have a registry cleaner/protection program active, being Spybot S&D as well as Avira Antivir.
Thank you for your time,
CK
Edit: Here is the exact wording of the popup I mentioned.

Hi ckstonge,
Hmm, everything looks good in your Diagnostic Report (activated and no other error codes) so I don't know why it still shows "Invalid License".
I believe that Vista's Licensing Store was (and still is) the issue. Activating should have corrected the issue, but since it didn't I would like you to try the below set of steps. The first set will attempt to reset the Store and the second set will recreate it. Try the first set and if that doesn't work, try the next.
1) Click the option that launches an Internet Browser
2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the address field
3) Find the file cmd.exe
4) Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: cscript %windir%\System32\slmgr.vbs /ilc %windir%\System32\licensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms
6) Hit the Enter key
7) Reboot twice1) Return to the cmd windows
2) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
3) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
4) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
5) Type: cd %windir%\system32
6) Type: net start slsvc
7) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
8) Reboot Twice
9) You may be required to re-enter the Product Key from the COA sticker (located on the side of bottom of the computer) and then Activate (use the Activate by Phone method)
Thanks,

Hello ckstonge,
It appears that your Vista is not yet Activated. I believe if you can Activate it, the Non-Genuine messages would end. I recommend using the Activate by Phone method.
To Activate by Phone:a) If you have access to the Start button: Click the Start button, and type slui 4 in the search field and then press the "Enter" key. This will bring up the Activate by Phone dialog window. Follow the steps provided by the window. The phone activation process should only take about 6 minutes.
b) If you do not have access to the Start button: Reboot and login to Vista, a dialog window will come up. In that window, click the option "Access computer with reduced functionality". Once you do that, Internet Explorer or Firefox browser will open. In the address bar type c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe press enter, a new window will come up, type: slui 4 and hit enter and follow steps to Activate over the Phone.
NOTE: The important thing to this process is that you need to talk to a Live Activation Rep! When you first call, you will be interacting with an Automated Voice, either select the option to talk to a Live Rep or if there is no option, do not enter any numbers. This should force the automated voice to transfer you to a Live Rep.
Thank you,

Apparently while I was asleep this morning the other user of this computer tried to activate the windows over the phone sometime between me posting this and this information getting to me - It apparently validated over the automated system - is there any way to de-activate the setup or is there going to be more of an issue with getting it out than doing something else?

The second option has seemed to work. The PC now does not come up with any MGA issues, including those popups about Aero. Thank you for your time and effort!
