Another mess you've got me into (Windows Genuine Advantage) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello MS,

I just don't know where to start, this is the second time this has happened to this machine and I'm gettting a little more than pissed at the downtime that this is causing me! The resolution, first time around was to reinitialised windows by "slmgr -ipk<product key>", this time though it doesnt work.

I will say that I think I know how to reproduce the problem, go to MSDN and download anything that requires the Genuine Advantage ActiveX control to be loaded into your browser to verify your copy of windows, after that well good luck!

  • Note to self:

"slmgr 4" brings up a dialog box where you can telephone MS and recreate a key, this worked.
