You can use Custom Install and check the last two items. Don't select "Cummulative Secutiry Update for IE7 for WinXP KB944533". That one will not install regardless. There is no clue about why it doesn't work.

Thanks for responding. Tried "Custom Install" the two (2) that you suggested to be installed, failed to install. Any other ideas?

I couldn't get the KB944533 update to install until now. They must be working on it.Thursday, February 14, 2008 10:26 AM

My updates are still unable to intall. Re: KB944533, me thinks it has something to do with an IE6 and IE7 conflict. I'm running IE7 and this update may already have the patch installed. Don't know for sure.
The other two are still in limbo. KB943055, KB946026. Anyone out there with an idea as to how to install?
Thanks, Jim

Your lucky, I got the updates installed, but after reboot I get my IP, subnet, gateway & dns. BUT, I can not access the internet, all LAN works, but internet access doesn't. After uninstalling these updates (KB944533) (KB946026) (KB943055) The internet returns to normal operation, but windows is such a twisted mess that without these 3 updates Windows & IE become very unstable & randomly shutdown, while not even in use, "IE, just open on home page" "Windows just logged in waiting for user interaction".PS. Every other update is installed as of 2/16/2008 12:10pm - those 3 above.Saturday, February 16, 2008 8:11 PM

Ok - I'll give that a try Tekfix, thanks. LATEST UPDATE: I received a response from a tech at MS who said that he was closing the discussion thread that I started with MS because he hadn't heard from me. Well, I responed to that Email stating that HE was the one that I had not heard from for three days. And it included two zipped files that he wanted so that he could view them. Now I'm waiting for him to respond to my latest Email and the zipped files that I sent him. We'll see !
If I get a resonse and a cure, I'll be sure to post it here on this thread.

To Tekfix
Good afternoon. I tried your suggestion. Windows Update was already in the Trusted Zone. Removed same and reinstalled it. Still unable to install the necessary updates.
Anything else?
Thanks, Jim

Good Morning Tekfix
I tried that one earlier in this forum. I tried it again this morning, and all three failed to install. I haven't heard from the MS Tech up to today on this problem. I've sent him everything he requested and he apparently is unable to resolve the issue or whatever.

hi jim
just a silly thou ght but you have got the box ticked in trusted sites under the web sites?? where it says
"require server verification (https
for all sites in this zone"

Hi Tekfix
This is in reply to the two posting above.
Yes, it was in a 'trusted zone' and yes it had the https://
No I never considered the option of removing IE7. I might be forced to do it.
Anyway Mate, I reupped my Tech Repair Ticket after the last post. Lets see what a 'new' MS Techie can accomplish.
