Windows validation not working with Windows run off parallels.

Question
-
Hi, My windows is genuine, it worked on my last PC, and was purchased from a reputable multinational source, however, now I have switched over to Mac, I am running my Windows Vista from Parallels and i am getting error messages saying that my windows may be counterfeit and that I won't be able to update it.
Of course, i would like to load any essential security updates, though mostly I am not a windows user any more.
Please help, and advise me how can pass the validation test for my genuine version of windows.
Thanks

Hello Rozzik,
In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.
If you do not have access to the Start Button:
1) Login to Vista and click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.
2) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.
3) A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”
4) When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.
5) Return to this thread http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/thread/0a344993-cd96-464b-b3bc-81e246190774.
6) In a reply post, paste the Diagnostic Report.
Thank you,

Hopefully it's all right for me to chime in on this thread, but I am having the exact same problem. I am running a genuine copy of XP Pro off Parallels on my Macbook Pro. Attempted to download Windows Media Player 11, and was told that I do not have a genuine copy of XP. However, the last 15 digits of the product key that the diagnostic tool found (pasted below) is exactly the same as the product key that came with the software. So I'm not sure what is going on, but have heard this is a common problem with Windows on Boot Camp or Parallels.
Here are the results, pasted below. Many thanks for any help!

I think in your answer above, you have mis-understood the nature of the problem; windows genuine diagnostics tools has been run on my computer, and it found my genuine software which is being run off of parallels to not be genuine, though it is very much a genuine, reputable and paid for copy of windows. Now windows has completely stopped running all together, this is wrong. It keeps asking me for my product, a product key that has been tested as genuine for the last 3 years for my windows is registered and verified throughout that time, and instead of working, it is saying that my product is not genuine. There seems to be a problem with running my genuine windows which was bought for PC, off of parallels. Windows runs OK off of parallels, but the genuine diagnostics tool is faulty.Thursday, October 15, 2009 8:16 PM

Hello Rozzik,
The Diagnostic Report tell us more then just Vista's Genuine status, it also may tell us what the issue is, which is why it is a standard request when troubleshooting a Non-Genuine issue.
If a Diagnostic Report is provided, I am willing to troubleshoot the issue to the best of my ability, but please note Microsoft's support policy for Microsoft software running in non-Microsoft hardware virtualization software http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897615
Thank you,
