Determining failed drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do I determine which drive of 4 in DATA is the failing drive?

Chkdsk says I have G I N & P for drives, but Disk Management, of course, doesn't show that structure

  • If you have an alert that a drive is having issues, it's safe to shut your server down and phyically disconnect a drive temporarily. If you get the drive with the problems, you know which is which. If not, reconnect the one you disconnected and repeat with a different drive. (not your system drive, obviously; your server won't boot without that). It might be useful to label your drives as you disconnect them, so you can associate the hardware with the drive in the console.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
