70-511 - How to Study RRS feed

  • Question

  • An extension of a previous question:

I've decided to go for the new 70-511 certification.  I bought the Training Kit for 70-502   and am currently taking class 6460 .

So my question is, what else can I do?  Will this be sufficient to pass the exam?  There is a class listed for 70-511 but a) it is not live yet and b) my school won't be teaching it anyway.  Can anyone recommend some other options?  What else might I need?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Eddie

  • Hi,

Have you already passed 70-536 or studied the base classes of the .Net
framework? I would recommend studying for this exam before taking any of
the specialty exams as it gives a good conceptual basis of the .Net
    framework.

  • Thanks Mike, for the suggestion.

I'd been studying for the 70-536 exam before the addition of the 70-511.  As MS seems to have changed the certification structure somewhat, I plan to just aim for the 70-511.  For better or worse, it no longer requires the 70-536.  I don't dismiss the value of that information - in fact, I'm still studying as I were taking that exam - but right now, I'm just trying to find missing information regarding 70-511.

    Thanks again-

  • Friendly bump - hoping for more, comparing/contrasting 70-511 to 70-502.

    Thanks-

  • Hi ,

Revised Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) for .Net Framework 4 / VS 2010

If your are a Windows developer go for 70-511 Exam or if you are web developer go for 70-515

You no need to take up the lengthy 70-536 (for .Net 2.0) since this exam is no longer prerequisite for MCTS

  • Hi,

The e-book for 70-511 is expected to be available on the 20th January (less than 2 days)

    See link

    http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780735627420/

Usually on the day of release O'reilly give a good discount (50%), hopefully they will this time.

This will not include the MeasureUp Tests, you will need to wait until next month for the printed book with tests for that.

    It will include code examples.

Else use 70-502 and check the differences or buy tests from MeasureUp.Com.

    Regards,

    Geoff
