Project work space template document library with folders and documents RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Is it possible to configure the project work space template document library with folders and documents. So that when the project is created ,work space is created with the required folders and template.

    Thanks in advance, Taj

  • Hi Taj,

Yes it is possible. You have to create a new project site, customize it as per your needs (lists, document librairies...), save it as a template. Finally associate this project site template to an EPT.

    See the procedure below:

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Taj,

yes, it's possible to create a custom Project Workspace Template.

You can do this with the following steps:

    1. Create a new Project in PWA
    2. Go to the workspace of the new Project
    3. Customize the workspace in that way you need (change and/or add libraries, lists etc.). But you shoul not delete the default libraries and lists such as Project Documents, Tasks, Issues, Risks an Deliverables. And you should not delete the default columns, but you can add som if you Need.
If you delete the default things you will get trouble with publishing your Projects!
    4. If you have finished your customizations go to the Settings Menu and select "Site Settings"
    5. At the right side under "Site Actions" you find "Save site as template".
Enter a name you want (include the content if you want) an press OK
    6. Now you have to go to the PWA Settings.
In the "Workflow and Project Detail Pages" section you find the "Enterprise Project Types". Click on it.
    7. For every EPT you can change the "Project Site Template" which is located at the bottom of the page.

I future every Project you will create will use your new template.

    I hope this helps.

  • My version of PWA does not have a selection for "save as Site Template" under Site Actions. Did this get moved? I can't find it...

  • You'll find it in the "site actions" section. If you can't find it, please refer to this similar thread which gives ways to solve this issue.

    Hope this helps,
