Vista Product Key is claiming to be Invalid

Question
-
I was experiencing serious performance problems with a Vista Ultimate machine. I decided to clean and reinstall operating system.
I could not locate the physical disk (Vista Ultimate), as I believe this unit was pruchased online through Microsoft. I did however, write down the Product Key prior to performing.
I installed a copy of Visat Ultimate from one of my other computers, and planned to just change the product key.
ERROR - When I attempt to Change the Product Key from the "Control Panel, System" window, I recieve an eror when I type the number of th string.
Please advise as to how I can correct this.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
