    Hello all,

I have just recently finished university and have been working part time as a .net web/application developer during my degree. After completing uni I am now fulltime. However, I feel that I have no one left to teach me so I’ve decided to take up some of these courses, but I know nothing about how Microsoft does/sets the courses or what I have to do to take part in them.

    I have been looking at

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcts/default.mspx

And have decided that I would like to do

MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications

MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Windows Applications

    1. But what I don’t understand is what I have to do. How do I apply for these?  Is it set out like a university course?

    2. Do I have to buy books and things like that?

    3. Can I go to classes or is it all from home?

    4. How many hours a week of study does a course generally take?

    5.  And how long do I normally get to study for before I have to do the test?

    6. Also, after I complete the previously listed topics can I label myself as a “Micrsoft Certified Technology Specialist in Web applications and windows applications” or are there more courses I need to complete to label myself as anything?

I’ve had a look around the website for this information but it all seems rather vague, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

  • Check the two links you posted again Microsoft have posted classes you can take if you can afford the classes because these comes with certified instructor or you can buy books and self study in both cases you need practice test because these exams are all code very few word answers.  Microsoft also provides online classes you can take for all exams so you need to look into that if you that is your choice.

Check the thread below I have provided materials for exams 70-536 and 70-528 because I have passed those.  So you need to pass three exams 70-536, 70-526 and 70-528 to get MCTS Web and Windows.  And yes when you pass any two of the above three exams you are MCTS, you can call your self and put it in your resume.

  • I think the passing score for most Microsoft exams is 700 and  I think the number of question is covered by NDA but study 50 to 60 the reason you need practice test like Transcenders.  I have covered study materials for both exams in details so run a search on Bing with my user name I think I covered both C# and VB.

  • The number is 50 or more for some exams but the developer division exams are a little less but study and prepare for a little more because 70-536 is very comprehensive and complicated exam.  I took both in one day so you will do well if you study and use practice tests.  Goodluck.
