How do I get ICE to appear on the Windows 8.1 start screen or desktop? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have installed on Windows 8.1, but there's no shortcut in start menu or on desktop, do I need to create on myself? I manually found application and pinned shortcut to start menu and added one to desktop. Should it generally happen automatically for Windows 8.1?

  • In Windows 8.1, installation of a desktop application never pins a tile to your Start screen.  The idea is that the Start screen is yours to customize.

You should see "Microsoft ICE" listed in the Apps screen, which you get to by swiping up or clicking the down arrow at the bottom of the Start screen.  From there, you can press-and-hold or right-click to see options like "Pin to Start" and "Pin to taskbar" and "Open file location" (where you can then create a desktop shortcut).
