i do not have a coa sticker on my laptop i have had it for going on two years now. there is no coa sticker on my computer. I have had to reinstall windows with the replacement disk that was sent to me from dell support. they probably gave me the wrong one. what can i do. should i contact alienware to get the coa sticker; is that even an option?
please advise further regarding the matter. sorry that i took so long to get back to you guys. I work the swing shift in a plywood mill and we are experiencing market fluctuation right now due to a huge facility in south america burning down so am working 10-12 hour days. thank you all that have responded to my inquiries to help me solve this annoying problem
You should contact Dell/Alienware and get them to send the proper disks, or to upgrade your BIOS.Note that if your machine never had a COA sticker, it was not licensed for Windows – just having the disk is not enough.Check the shipping specification using your Service Tag number on their website – what version of Windows does it say was shipped (if any)? The COA sticker may be inside the battery compartment.

1) Click the Start button
2) Type: slui.exe 3 and hit the Enter key
3) Type in the 25-character Windows 7 Home Premium Product key from the COA sticker on your computer
4) Click the Next button.
5) You will be asked if want to Activate, click ok
6) It will attempt to Activate by the internet and will return an Invalid Key error (this is ok, continue to step 7)
7) Click the Start button
8) Type: slui.exe 4 and hit the Enter key
9) Select your location in the drop down menu and click the Next button
10) The next screen provides the number to call to Activate by Phone
