  • Syed, can you link to your threads with the code snippet filter?

Ratings Board President... Mr. Wharty and Enderson, that's definitely a bug.

    - Note that Mr. Wharty has rated 109 blogs and Enderson has rated 567; both have "Rated A for Awesome" (a silver medal for rating 25 blogs); neither have "Ratings Board President" (a gold medal for rating 100 blogs).

    Reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/ff395928.aspx#How_do_I_earn_achievements

Generally, you might need to wait a few days for an achievement to kick in (but sometimes it's pretty quick).

For the gold medal for Forum Replies ("Forum Replies V"), you need 5,400 answers. The numbers are higher for forums because the system sets the bar at the current average. In other words, a lot of people are doing high numbers in the Forums, so that bar is high. Please link to a profile who has this medal and 1,300 replies... that's a bug.

So after browsing this thread, I'm left with the one bug... Ratings Board President. I'll wait to see if anyone responds with more before I follow up with this. I heard three other reports of bugs that I cannot prove. So I want to see if those can be proven first.

    Thanks!

  • Regarding Syed's request about whether or not Syed has answered over 100 questions with code in the answer...

On page 1 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=syed+qazafi+anjum&filter=answered%2chascode), Syed has 11 code answers. That's out of 20 on the first page.

On page 2 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=syed+qazafi+anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=2), Syed has 10 code answers. That's out of 20 on the second page.

So let's take the average of 11 per every 20. That's actually pretty good. =^)

Your rate is approximately 55% of the total questions you posted to and have code (from someone) include answers with code from you. That's very good, actually.

So 55% of 193 is 106. Let's do some more pages...

On page 3 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=syed+qazafi+anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=3), you have 13 code answers.

On page 9 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=syed+qazafi+anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=9), you have 14 code answers.

It's looking pretty good that you have over 100 code answers. These four pages show 48 already. Do a similar check on pages 4-8 for me to see if you have over 100 code answers.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Richard

Thanks for your posting and your tipJ as per your suggestion I am putting a new screenshot which is almost 185 question which are answered has code snippet

Please have a look a screenshot for your consideration

    I hope this will help

If you have any question please do ask

    Many thanks

    Syed Qazafi Anjum

Syed, we'll need to dig deeper. Can you link to this list?

As Richard mentioned, you've got the list down to 185 that both have code and have been answered. However, that doesn't mean that all 185 threads have code from you and are also the replies marked as the answers. My guess is that this is less than 50%. But we wouldn't know until we manually counted.

    Thanks!

He now as 186 in the list. Seems like a lot of work checking them all.

Yes, it uses the same URL as you get from the "Browse Users" option.

I'm planning to check a few pages and take an average of "Syed answered it with code".

My guess is less than 50%. We'll see. I should at least see. =^)

Thank you so much indeed for your deep investigation about my thread, I really appreciate your time and efforts.

I think you might be right that I might have 50% answered my question by code but please have a look on the following statistic that might help

    Many thanks

    Syed Qazafi Anjum

I'll check. The 357 answers you have are unrelated to the other numbers. For example, the 453 questions answered means that 453 of the threads you ever posted on have answers (and you've posted over 1K times).

Thanks again to all the contributions in this topic.

Enderson Valente Teixeira - Coordenador de Informática

    Enderson,

You said, "I am not getting medals of recognition in my profile".  I verified that you should not yet have the "Forum Replies IV" gold medal, because you have not posted 5,400 times yet. The only missing medal that I can prove is the Blog's "Rating Board President" gold medal (Mr. Wharty should also have it). I cannot prove that you are missing any other medals. Shall I proceed in only reporting that one bug?

I want to make sure that's the only bug here before I proceed.

    Thanks!

Enderson Valente Teixeira - Coordenador de Informática

I'll also report the "Forums Answerer IV" bug. That one's definitely a bug.

If you want to "prove" the "Gallery Rater II" silver medal bug, you can link to each of 25 items that you rated (probably means rating a new 25, unless you clearly remember some).

For the "Forums Curator II", that's actually decently hard and rare. Most people only get it if they're Moderators and end up proposing and marking the answers themselves. Basically, in addition to voting for 20 posts as Helpful (that's easy), you have to propose 50 answers where someone (the Asker or a Mod) marks them as the answer. It's actually much harder than you'd think to get that to happen 50 times (maybe like a 5% rate of success where the replies you propose get marked as the answer... unless you mark them too). If you do mark an answer that you proposed, our "best practice" we ask mods to follow is to wait 7 days (for the Asker to return).

    Thanks!

  • Hi Richard. I think you are mistaken,
I agree with you about the latest answers that had tomark my own posts as answers, the subject of several post held in the ISA Server forum, where users raised questions, but not finalized the threads or not returned to report the results.

I closed several questions, but not even getto 100 responses.

And one of the medals that were not updated was rated blog.(567 rated)

    take look this profile

    Felippe Fazzani

he answered almost 2000 questions and not received the gold medal Forum Repliesof forums, there are other profiles with 1300 response that already have this medal. (Forum replies of forum and is not necessary user to mark the answer)

  • Hi All

I was also confused since last couple of days as I was also expecting a Gold Achievement for 100 x Answered with Code Snippet if I see my profile threads I have answer almost more than 110 answer with code Snippet but I did not get any Gold Achievement. Now I get some confidence that it not just me who is facing this problem.

To be honest I have almost 3000 points since I get any Silver Achievement as well. I am very confused now. Another strange thing happening to me when I log in to my Forum and try to reply to any thread it always take me to my profile page  and ask me to update and when I put something  then an error come and take me to this forum, Can someone please update is it just me who is facing this problem.

It almost took me 20 minutes to put my comments in this thread when I click reply it always took me to my profile page to update that L

    My blog;

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/ff395928.aspx#How_do_I_earn_achievements

"Proposed Answerer III" is INCREDIBLY tough! You have 8K answers, and if you're not self proposing almost every single post you make that might be an answer (or have your friends propose almost every single post you make), then you might have even less than 1K proposed answers so far (out of 8K, which is still way above the average rate; my guess is the average rate is about 4% of answers are proposed answers). Saying "incredibly tough" is a huge understatement. I think I'm the only one I've seen who has it, and that's ONLY because I went for it. If you haven't been making sure that almost every one of your replies (all the ones that might be answers) are proposed before they're ever marked (and do this for about 2,000 answers... so do this until you have 10K answers), then you will likely not get this medal until you have 16K+ answers. Whether accident or on purpose, they seriously made this one tough to get. =^)

I think we all overestimate how much people actually use the "Propose As Answer" feature. Not very much at all.

You have Code Answerer III. You actually had that one before the medals were created. It just popped up with your other ones at the beginning. =^)

    Thanks!

I am moderator of the forums technet Brazil
For this reason I am claiming my medal curator.

I'll await the return, if not solved will reopen the topic.
    I thank again.

What is your practice in the forum? Can you link to the forum so that I can see?

For example, do you always propose an answer before you mark it? How often do you propose answers? In every thread you read (assuming there's an answer), or do you wait for the OP/Asker to respond? How long do you wait for the OP/Asker to respond before you propose an answer? Most moderators don't actually propose as much as we'd like. And then the Forums Curator III gold medal is incredibly difficult to get (Naomi got it, but she's been around for awhile).

    Thanks!

    Forums Curator III works differently...

    - You vote 100 replies as Helpful (this is easy).

In addition, you follow these steps 1,000 times...

    1. You propose someone's reply as the answer. You mentioned that you don't propose your own answers. This makes your rate of success fairly low, because it means there are probably less proposed answers by you floating around.

    2. Someone marks your proposal as the answer. Do you mark answers that you've proposed?

I would actually put this rate at about 4% of all the items you've proposed (people don't mark other peoples' proposals very often... and when they do they might sometimes only be marking one when you proposed three or so in the thread). My guesstimate is that you've proposed about 5,000 items. That would mean you have approximately 200 Curator marks toward this medal. (Another one that's incredibly hard unless you're strategically going for it, and have been strategically going for it for quite some time.)

    Thanks!

  • Every day I propose from 10 to 20 answers as the average. Usually, if I read the thread and see a good answer, I propose it.

    So, say, 300 days a year * 10 - 3000 proposed answers per year.

I think at least 1/3 of the answers I propose is later marked. So, at least 1000 answers I proposed have been marked.

  • Enderson,

You likely haven't completed 50 curations yet. Like I said, it's actually a lot harder than it seems. If you don't mark answers you propose and do it constantly and purposefully, you're relying on other people, and that's a lower rate of success (about 4%).

In your profile, you have proposed 3 replies in the last 3 days. However, you have marked an answer 39 times in 3 days. And then if 4% of your proposed answers are marked, then you likely received 0 curations in the last 3 days. You should be proposing answers as much as you're marking answers for two reasons... (1) to get this medal. (2) because that gives the asker an opportunity to mark their own answers more often (and the person who answered the question gets more points if the Asker/OP marks the answer).

    Thanks!

  • Hi Richard,

For the Curator 3 are you supposed to mark or someone else should mark? Say, I propose a lot, but I marked probably 300 answers in total.

Either you or someone else can mark. But you have to propose.

However... if you're not marking what you propose (after waiting a week, of course)... then this number is far lower than you think (I think about 4%).

So my recommendation is to revisit every thread where you proposed an answer and if it's been over a week, mark that answer (if you think it's really an answer).

Like I said, my guesstimate is at 4% rate of return... not 33 1/3 %. Not even close. As someone who has gotten the medal, that's my guesstimate. You can increase the rate of return when you do the marking task yourself. Otherwise, it's closer to 4%. You don't have to believe me, but as I'm the only person here who achieved the medal, you probably should. =^)

  • Yes, we were going back and forth in discussing the two medals, so it can get confusing.

You're right on almost all counts. Except #3. Anybody can mark it. As an exception, the Bronze Proposed Answerer medal requires someone else to propose your answer.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ed Price

Thanks you so much indeed for your time to count all these code snippet. I know this is not an easy process J I really appreciate your help, Here is my observations

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=Syed+Qazafi+Anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=4

I have answered 13 questions with code snippet

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=Syed+Qazafi+Anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=5

I have answered 15 questions with code snippet

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=Syed+Qazafi+Anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=6

I have answered 15 questions with code snippet

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=Syed+Qazafi+Anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=7

I have answered 13 questions with code snippet

According to your investigation I have 48 in four pages and according to my investigation

I have 56 in four pages so I have now answered 104 questions with code snippet and I still have two more pages (page 8 and page 10) to go.

If you would like I will count that as well.

If you have any question please let me know

    Many thanks

    Syed Qazafi Anjum

    Tuesday, June 19, 2012 9:13 PM
  • Syed, I'll go ahead and do 8 and 10 just so it's clear that you're definitely over it.

On page 8 (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=Syed+Qazafi+Anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=8), you have 13 code answers.

On page 10 (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/user/threads?user=Syed+Qazafi+Anjum&filter=answered%2chascode&page=10), you have 5 code answers.

Grand total is 122 (at least).

So if we go back to the first two pages (about 22 code answers),  you broke 100 code answers at about June 12th. That's one week ago. 20 a week is a pretty fast pace! =^)

Okay, I'll add to this report with this "Code Answerer III" bug.

    Thanks!

At least 10 of your 107 answers are with code? Can you link to them (and your list page)?

    Blog Commentator...

It says you only commented on two blogs. To get the Silver, you need to comment on 50; to get the gold you need to leave 125 comments on blogs.

You have the Silver for ratings, called "Rated A for Awesome". You'll need to rate 100 blogs to get the gold... Ratings Board President. It says you have rated 73 so far.

    When it will be marked?

  • Your reply may be marked as the answer if the person who asked the question thinks your reply is the correct answer.

If after a period of time a question hasn't been marked as answered, a Moderator or Answerer may mark your reply as the answer if they think it was the correct answer.

BTW, just because a MSFT Employee marks your reply as a proposed answer, doesn't necessarily mean it is.  There have been many replies marked as answers by MSFT Employees and other forum members however they have turned out not to be the correct answer.
