The 70-521 and 70-523 exams are not available yet? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've already got MCPD Web Developer 3.5 and I'm planning to get MCPD Windows Developer 3.5 by September's end, and later upgrade them to 4 version.

But they do not seem available at Microsoft Learning website, and Prometric is out at the moment.

I'v searched the same information at the web, and other posts were not clear if those exams would be available by September or December. Anyoune have any clear information, or directions where i can have them?

Thanks in advance, and sorry about my poor english.

  • Hi Robson,

in http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/CertGeneral/thread/80e0e2c3-1fa5-42fc-b4be-a50a261223e4 Rubel Khan wrote that these exams could be expected in December or January. But without any official announcement from Microsoft, we cannot be sure about the release date.

(And I didn't find any other information regarding these exams on the web.)

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • Hi all,

from this link http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx#tab2 , in the "Upgrade from MCPD on Visual Studio 2008 to MCPD on Visual Studio 2010" section, the link to the 70-521 details page is not available. Where can I find detail about this exam?

    Thanks!

  • Hi!

What are the benefints of the upgrade exams exactly?

    For example 70-521:

When you pass Exam 70-521: Upgrade: Transition your MCPD .NET Framework 3.5 Windows Developer Skills to MCPD .NET 4 Windows Applications Developer, you complete the requirements for the following certification(s):

MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Windows Applications
MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Service Communication Applications
MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Data Access
    MCPD: Windows Developer 4

What are the requirement for the MCTS exams? I thought there is no pre-exam like Core in 3.5 anymore.  Does that mean I can do all that exams after I pass 70-521? Why would I than take the upgrade exam at all and not directly the MCTS exams?

    Regards,
    Dominik

  • Hi Dominik,

when you have the MCPD .Net Framework 3.5 Windows Developer Certification, then you can do ONE exam (70-521) to gain:
    - MCPD .Net 4 Windows Application Developer
    - MCTS .Net Framework 4 Windows Applications
    - MCTS .Net Framework 4 Service Communication Applications
    - MCTS .Net Framework 4 Data Access
    certifications.

But of course: You can also do the 3 MCTS exams + the PRO exam which will be 4 exams.

So the big advantage is, that you just do one exam instead of 4.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
