  • Good Morning Bullhorns,

When Product Key updates fail, typically it is for one of two major reasons:  (1) the nongenuine installation has so many corruptions  that the updater cannot repair all of them, and (2) the updater cannot establish a reliable connection to the MS servers because of an internet conectivity problem on the computer, sometimes due to protective programs such as antispyware or firewall programs.  Unfortunately, if the PK updater does not work, then you have to offload your data and then repartition, reformat, and cleanly install.

    Take care Bullhorns,

    Stephen

  • Bullhorns,

You mentioned purchasing a WGA Kit from Microsoft. Have you received the physical media as yet from Microsoft? It appears your previous version was a non-genuine copy of Windows XP which lead you to purchase the WGA Kit am I correct? The WGA Kit is a retail version of Windows XP. When you do receive the physical media please perform a complete reformatting and reinstallation to your hard drive. As I previously mentioned it appears the product key tool won't work because your non-genuine Windows intallation has major issues.

Unfortunately I have more bad news. Office Enterprise 2007 was installed with a blocked Volume Licensing Key.

Take care Bullhorns and if you need further assistance please post back in this thread.

  • Thanks Stephen

Do you think it is a good idea to purchase a new copy of XP Pro and ditch the oem copy?  Plus i have already laid out for the WGA.

    Regards
