WHS install ok but no network connection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have successfully installed WHS, but appear not to have any network connection to my router.

On running the Windows Home Server Console and clicking 'settings' and then 'Remote Access'
Router Status is shown as 'Not configured'
But I can't configure the router since the button is greyed out?

I have run  the 'Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool' on my client machine and my network gets a full set of ticks, which states that the UPnP is active.

The server was previously a Vista machine with a fully working network connection to the router, so I think the hardware is fine.

    Please can you help here?

  • Hi,
you finished the installation, did you install the Connector software already on a client successfully?
If not, did you check in device manager, that a driver for the network card is installed? (Assuming you are sitting locally on the desktop.)
Are both the router and the Windows Home Servers network interface in the same subnet?
Could you post the output of
    ipconfig /all
issued in a command prompt on the server?

  • You're right Olaf, no network driver installed.
Just completed this and I now have my client PC talking to the server. I'm so pleased!
I think a check list for first timers, like me, would be most useful...

Thanks for your help and best greetings from the UK.
