Problem with activation Error oxc004e003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I obtained a laptop (Dell Studio 1555) which had vista initially but had been replaced with windows 7 in April 2010. I have had this from October 2010 and is has been running fine until today it telling me that the windows 7 i have is not genuine, after using it for 6 months or so.

I read that it could just not be reading the OEM key but no matter what i do it won't activate.

I go to system in the control panel and click activate, type in the 25 character product key and at half way it says:

A Problem occured when Windows tried to activat. Error Code 0xC004E003, and when you go more info it just tells you : The Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed , As if microsoft has a problem or something, because if you put in something random it tells you that it is not a valid windows 7 product key.

I have tried this by clicking the 'Activate Windows now' and by clicking 'Change product key'.

Nothing seems to work and I do not understand why

I have seen some people run the MGA Diagnostic Tool so i thought i should also.

    Your installation is not genuine.
The OEM_SLP Key in use here is from an Acer computer - and if it's been showing as genuine previously, then it means that there was a hacker's Loader program enabling it. Installation of SP1 is probably what removed the hack, and uncovered the mismatch.

If the Key you have been trying to enter is the same as the one above, then that may explain your error message - The reason that you get the 0xC004E003 error when attempting to activate this Key is that all OEM_SLP Keys are blocked from internet or phone activation, as they should self-validate using the SLIC table in the BIOS, and certificates in the OS.

  • Your laptop is using a Windows 7 Ultimate Acer OEM SLP serial when your system is a Dell. That is the problem.

The previous owner has done something illegal most probably has installed a loader exploit onto the system which has incorrectly given you the wrong serial code.
