Changing an Existing Queue's E-mail Address in CRM 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm currently running CRM 4.0 in my environment and we're using Queues for external member/customer support.  Everything is working fine with the queue, my question is this...if we wanted to change the e-mail address that our external customers are using, so that when it's used the messages arrive at the current queue that we have setup, can I do that?

Can I simply change the e-mail address that this queue is using or is there more to it than that in regards to how our E-mail Router is configured with this queue account? or Do I need to create a new Queue with that new e-mail address and set it up as I've done the previous queues and configure the e-mail router for it, etc. then once we verify that it's working delete the original queue?

  • If you change the e-mail address kindly reconfigure the e-mail router and publish the new profile. Then everything should work as expected

  • Carsten, thanks for the quick reply, but I'm attempting to test this via my Test environment and here is what's happening.  I created a new mailbox to test with, I then changed the e-mail address in the queue to use the e-mail address from the mailbox I just created, I then ran the E-mail Router and see that it loads the data successfully showing the queue with the new e-mail address.

I also ran the Rules Deployment Wizard and it confirmed that the queues are configured correctly, but I remember publishing rules to these when I first set them up yet I don't see this new mailbox that I created show up.  I have the mailbox opened via another workstation and I see the test message come into the mailbox but it never forwarded to the queue?  I'm guessing I'm missing some sort of configuration and I'm not sure what you mean by "reconfigure the e-mail router" or "publish the new profile"?

Can you explain what you mean in detail, so I can better understand what I need to do and what I'm missing?...thanks.

  • Never mind, I figured it out and tested this successfully, so I'm good to go.  Thx!
