Microsoft Fixit Encountered an error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Can anyone tell me *in plain English* (not computer-speak) why the MS Fixit will not install on my PC running Windows 8 (64-bit)? When I try to run it, it just says it encountered an error and to try later. I have, but still get the same message.

I can confirm that I have no registry key that lists autorun.ini. Now... because I have mentioned the word 'registry' does not imply I understand everything about it.... I am trying to fix an error where every time I boot up, I get an error warning trinagle that just says "explorer.exe" and I have a choice to say "OK" or not...

  • Hi: I too am having the identical problem. I am running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. I downloaded Microsoft Fix It. When I try to run the program I get the message "Fix It Center encountered  an error. An unexpected error has occurred. Please close and try to run setup again later." This is a simple problem and, apparently, a common one. It would seem to me that the moderator of this board or one of the techies would take an interest and respond. We of course, appreciate the help. But what I notice on this board is how many questions go unanswered...by anyone.

I had a serious problem with my DVD player/recorder disappearing. I spent hours researching Microsoft web site. I finally found by accident a Microsoft page that let me use Fix It directly from the web page and it fixed the problem in about 60 seconds. The Fix It Center is a marvelous program. I would dearly love to install it on my computer and am unhappy that I can't.

I wish someone could please help. Thank you.
