After XP exam? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I was hoping to do the MCDST (Win XP) exam and bought the books, but it looks as if that exam has been discontinued.

Skipping over Vista, would the successor to the MCDST exam be 'Exam 70-680' or 'Exam 70-685', and what is the difference between these two exams, please?

Finally, where might I find out how much it is to sit these exams?

    Many thanks.

  • Hi,

I'd look at the MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 (you
listed the requirements in the post):

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcitp.aspx#tab2

680 is the Windows 7 Configuration exam, it tests over the following

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-680&locale=en-us#tab2

685 is the PRO level exam for the certification, it tests over the following

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-685&locale=en-us#tab2

The exam costs depend on the country, in the US I think it is 125, but
when you schedule through Prometric (or the testing service in your
country), it will tell you for sure.

  • Hello Mike,

Many thanks for that. I have visited the links you kindly posted. It looks as though you need the 680 to count towards the 685. The cost is £88 (about $100, I think). Having passed the 685, would that give you MCITP status then?

    Cheers

  • Both 680 and 685 would need to be passed to gain the MCITP credential. As far as I know, you can take 685 before 680, but I would recommend taking the PRO level exam last.

  • Many thanks, Mike. I'll take the 680 first.

    Best regards
