Activation Failure(Windows not Genuine when install from OEM disk/ or MSDN/TECHNET iso) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been chasing this problem around for the last week, My Harddrive went bad so I bought a new one and tried everything from using the vista (OEM) disk and upgrading to win 7, to My own Win 7 install disk for my other computer and finally using Win 7 Home/Pro/Ultimate ISO's from my technet. Every time I install it after rebooting once or twice(even with no internet) I get a notice that windows 7 is not genuine: Here's my WGA Diag Report Please Help!!!:::

I've also tried recreating the store as mentioned in other posts (renaming tokens.dat and restarting the service)

and I ran the System File Checker but it's log file > 7 MB, I did notice there are a lot of "FAILED" and "ERROR" messages contained within it, here's a small snippet:

This looks like a possible case of disk corruption – please run a full CHKDSK...

    Click on the Start button
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
    Select Run as Administrator
    - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type
    CHKDSK C: /R
    and hit the Enter key
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
    Click on the Start button
    type in the Search box
    CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
    Select Run as Administrator
    - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

run another MGADiag report, and post the results.
