I would suggest you ask your employer's IT department (I assume you're using a VPN for work reasons). What you want to ask is this:
When I connect to the company VPN from a home computer, I lose contact with some local resources (printers, shared folders, etc.). How do I configure my connection so that I can retain access to local resources?
However, I'll warn you that your company's IT department may say "You can't." because many VPNs are intentionally configured to block local network access to prevent exposing the workplace to the entire home network and vice versa.
