MS CRM 4.0 - Unlimited External User RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We are working on premise MS CRM 4.0 On Premise.

    External Users

    1. Users will use MS CRM  same as Internal STAFF but, they are not member of our organization.
    2. They will use MS CRM from Internet (as, they are not part of our Network)

We have External Users (unlimited) and we do not want to purchase UserName OR Device CAL separately for them.

We are planning to purchase External Connector for them so, any no. of user OR System can use the On Premise CRM System.

Is this right option or any other Cost Affective way is there?

Plesae provide the detail on license which has such scenario mentioned in details as we need to also integrate our system with 4 - 5 Third party systems as well.

  • It's not entirely clear what you mean by "external users" or exactly what you hope to achieve; however, it sounds like you're looking for something like the partner portal accelerator.

It is a pre-packaged web application, external to the CRM, based on the xRM libraries in the CRM SDK.  It allows Contacts to login to the CRM via a custom developed web interface to perform a variety of partner related tasks (mostly Case/Opportunity entity).

NB: as the accelerators model authentication around the Contact entity, portal users cannot realise the benefit of regular CRM users such as entity instance ownership etc.  Also, any/all modifications to the portal other than rudimentary GUI changes require code modifications.

You'll also need one CRM licence through which the portal can connect to the CRM.
