64-bit Vista, Wireless Zune and OneCare - Zune Wireless Sync not working with firewall enabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've followed the directions from the thread : http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2589695&SiteID=2 as best I could, but I still can't get my Zune 80 to wirelessly sync with the OneCare firewall enabled.

As soon as I disable the OneCare firewall the Zune is able to wirelessly sync with this PC.

Here are my settings & info

OS - Vista Ultimate 64 bit Service Pack 1.

Zune Software (64 bit install) version: 2.3.1338.0

    Zune Firmware version: 2.3 (1145)

    OneCare version: 2.0.2500.22

From the "Configure Firewall" dialog (Change settings - Firewall tab - Configure Firewall button)

Network Discovery - on for Home and Work networks

File and Printer Sharing  - on for Home and Work networks

Media Center Extender  - on for Home and Work networks

Streaming Media  - on for Home and Work networks

    VPN - off

    ICS - off

    Remote Assistance - off

Wireless network is set as a Home or Work network.

I cannot see a "Firewall connection tool" that the other thread makes reference to.

What am I missing / have done wrong?

  • Hi, p. The tool referred to in that thread was available in v1.6 of OneCare and attempted to automate some of the advanced settings for the firewall.

    Try this:

    Open OneCare.

    Change Settings.

On the firewall tab, click Advanced settings.

On the Ports and Protocols tab, scroll down and place a check mark next to the 2 lines for Xbox360...
