My Product Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased and received my Genuine Windows Xp and was informed in a cover letter by a Mr.David Lazar that I would receive my product Key from him by Email two or so days after I received delivery of the CD.

Its going nearly a month now and I cannot receive the key by Email from him.I paid US$149:00 for the CD and now it is of no use to me.

Something seems to be drastically wrong. Will someone out there please help me.

  • Danesh Maragh,

Please use this link to follow-up on your order:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/orderhelp.aspx

You should have received your email Product Key within 24-48 hours of your purchase, and your CD should be received by postal mail with about 2 weeks, maybe 3 weeks.

It's possible that there was a clerical error when your email address was input, or perhaps the email from Microsoft was incorrectly identified as Spam somewhere along the line, perhaps by your ISP or by your email program.  Have you checked the Spam folders of your email account?

    Laoxie,

Unfortunately, the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) support forum is able to provide support in English only.  Please open the following URL:  http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx .  This website will help make sure you receive the appropriate support information for your location, select your region setting from the list below and then click the arrow button. Next search the page and locate the service which you require. Have a great day and thank you for visiting the OGA Forum.

  • Stephen,

First of all, I don't think it's a good idea to have this forum in English only. And I surely don't think it's because of Microsoft's technical incompetence..

OK...back to the subject. Perhaps I need to do a little translation....What Laoxie is saying is

"I bought my computer from DELL, how come that my windows is not genuine?"

    Well well.... hopefully this helps.

  • Fishmacau,

Thank you for taking time and providing translation. The website I posted would have provided direction for him to ask his WGA Question in his or her native language. This is why I directed our customer accordingly. So even if I posted directions and ask questions there will be a language barrier.  Also we have pinned entries here asking all customers to run the diagnostics and post their responses here. This will help us provide a quicker response to our valued customers.

Hope this will explain as to why we direct our customers accordingly.  Thank you

    Eloise,

We request all users initially run the Genuine Diagnostics tool to try and identify the issue you may be having.

Download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.

Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:
    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.

    Thank you,
