Quick Campaign - Mail Merge via e-mail RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

When we prefrom an mail merge via e-mail everything works fine, untill we check the box "create actvities in microsoft dynamics crm".

    http://img688.imageshack.us/i/crmmerge.jpg/

The process then start but only creates 1 (or sometimes 2) e-mail message and related activity. If I complete the merge without creating an activity everything works fine.

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Lee

  • Hi lee,

    I also get this problem..

In mine, if I check the box create 'actvities in microsoft dynamics crm', and check 'include link to unsubscribe', it will happen like yours. Only 1 or 2 activity created in CRM.

But if I check the box create 'actvities in microsoft dynamics crm', and uncheck 'include link to unsubscribe', all activity successfully created in CRM. So I used this workaround to handle this problem for a while until I get a solution (uncheck 'include link to unsubscribe' as long as it create activities in CRM).

  • Lee,

I have found that in the mail merge if you don't have the mail merge set at record number 1 in the list it will only send out that one record.

Perhaps that is what is happening in your environment?

  • Jerry,

I was really hoping that would work alas it didn't. I have progressed my testing and it really is only e-mail that it has a problem creating activities for. Mail Merge to letter no problems at all.

Back to the test but thanks for the possible solution.

  • Lee,

Is it possible that the user that is doing the mail merge doesn't have rights to append activities to certain records in the merge file?

  • Jerry,

I thought this may have been the case but by successfully preforming the mail merge to letter on the same mailing list with the same user, I don't think it's the case.

I have tried to preform the mail merge via e-mail as an administrator just to make sure and it still fails.

  • I've just discovered that if I uncheck "include an unsubscribe link in the e-mail message" it works without problems.

Has anyone seen this before, as we are trying to use CRM to send out news letters...

  • Lee,

Now that is interesting. What UR are you on? There have been posts on other CRM forums about this box being grayed out without any ability to check it. It was a known issue and scheduled to be fixed in a future UR. I am wondering if part of it got fixed but it broke something else?

  • UR 8, have tried 9 and 10 on a test server and the problem is still there.

I'm thinking it may be client side configuration but I have tried several different clients. I'm currently installing a fresh client on the test enviorment and downloading ALL the available windows updates (as we only approve updates in a monthly cycle) to see if I can locate a client resolution.

  • Do we have any update on this? Please, if you have found any solution without having to compromise (uncheck ' include link to unsubscribe') please me know. Thank you all in Advance.
