Microsoft Genuine Diagnostic Tool wonn't run RRS feed

  • Question

  • After a latest update I have experienced various problems of application not starting, unable to install some apps etc.
Eventually I spotted a tiny message "This copy of windows is not genuine" which is unlikely cause since it had valid key until yesterday.

Some threads suggest downloading MGAdiag.exe which I did, however, even this application refuse to behave normally. Its starting ok, however when Continue button is pressed (select tab Windows). It gets stuck there like all other applications.

    What to do next?

    Windows 7 Enterprize, SP1, 64bit

  • Use System Restore to get back to a state prior to the updates, then scan your system for malware and for other problems.

You would be better posting your query in the Windows Update forums here....

  • Thank you very much!
it seems that restore is currently only option remaining.

Backing up the files ... :)

  • Windows System Restore shouldn't affect data files. - what would affect them is using the manufacturer's Recovery procedures.

  • Interesting - what setting was it that interfered? (or were you running ZA's Anti-Virus as well?)
