CRM 2011 AD FS and AD domain function level RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we would like to set up CRM 2011 with ad fs for IFD. The customer has Server 2003 as Domain Controllers and an Active Directory domain functional level 2003 native.

I know that we can add 2008R2 servers for crm and adfs but is this working out to access the CRM 2011 via IFD if the domain has the functional level 2003 native?

Someone installed this already with this configuration?

    Thanks for any help.

  • I have not tried this but as far as I remember from the implementation guide, configuring an IFD has no additional requirements for the forest and domain functional levels over and above a standard CRM installation.

  • Hi Tugay,

2003 native mode should be alright. I would only be worried with ADFS running on 2003 native mode, but this seems to be alright as well:

Most AD FS 2.0 features do not require AD DS functional-level modifications to operate successfully. However, Windows Server 2008 domain functional level or higher is required for client certificate authentication to operate successfully if the certificate is explicitly mapped to a user's account in AD DS.

    hope it helps
