    Manage the VISTA Parental Controls  right from WHS.


    The ability to the manage system maintaince of connected pc's. You know scheduling defrags and disk cleanup.


    Manage the windows update settings on connected pc's.


    Managing the windows firewall on connected pc's.

  • In the Reviewer's Guide (part of the documentation you downloaded when you downloaded the WHS beta software) you'll find that WHS is capable of monitoring everything that's exposed in the Security Center on Vista. This includes firewall and update status. Presumably there's no operating system support for parental controls or system maintenance in Vista, or any of those items in XP.

    You can't manage those features from WHS, just get reports on them as part of network health monitoring. WHS isn't a desktop operating system. It's designed to be a headless appliance, providing services to the other computers on your network; the installation instructions tell you to remove the keyboard, monitor, and mouse at the end of setup.
