Winds 7 Validation Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Day,

Yesterday afternoon one of our office computers suddenly began to display that Windows 7 was not genuine (8700) and the background went black.

This computer is approx 3 months old and was bought brand new from a local computer supplier that we have been using for 10+ years.

I generating a Diag Report as recommended in another thread by using the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012.  See below...

You will need to talk to the computer retailer, the key used in this installation is an MSDN key that was installed on this computer and sold to you in violation of the MSDN subscription terms. Please see the following thread. MSDN keys are not for general retail use, you must be an account holder or the holder to access and use the keys from an MSDN subscription.

You may want to use the information from the above thread to check the PID's on the remaining computers purchased from the same vendor.

  • Hello pba210,

Is there a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) sticker affixed to the computer case (or the bottom, or inside the battery compartment,  of a laptop if a laptop)?  If so tell us the version of Windows (XP, Vista, 7, etc) and the edition of Windows (Home, Pro, Home Premium, Business, etc) listed on the CoA.  Don't post the product key!
