Exam 70-562 counts towards the certification "MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications". However, you will not be certified until you also pass 70-536. It is not compulsory to do 70-536 before 70-562. You can take them in any order, but you will not get the MCTS until you have passed both.
The list of topics covered by the exam are listed here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-562&locale=en-us#tab2
The same page lists the percentage of the score that is based on each of the topics.

Hi Sonib,
that is at least my interpretation but I have to confess that I did the 70-536 exam first so I didn't test it.
With kind regards,
Konrad

Hi there! Did you take your 70-562 exam? How did it go ... I have just started preparing for the exam and would like to get some advice from you regarding the practice tests etc.Saturday, January 22, 2011 6:01 AM

Well, I did take the 70-562 exam, but my case is not typical because I passed 70-562 while it was still in beta. At the time of the beta, there were still no preparation materials or practice tests available for this exam, so my only preparation was my previous experience at developing web applications, and some light reading on MSDN and other sources based on the list of topics in the exam description page. That was more than enough for passing the exam, but then again I do have a huge amount of experience in preparing and taking certification exams (somewhere near 70 exams so far), so this way of preparing may not necessarily be useful for you.

As Sonib suggests I think the easiest route is using the MS Training Guides which also include MeasureUp practice tests.
MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-562): Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5-ASP.NET Application Development
ISBN-10: 073562562X
ISBN-13: 978-0735625624
and
MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-536): Microsoft® .NET Framework Application Development Foundation, Second edition
ISBN-10: 0735626197
ISBN-13: 978-0735626195
Both are excellent resources and the MeasureUp tests link to MSDN for more details if you get explanations of answers.
