Windows XP SP3 clean Install

  Hello all,

  I'm a tempting to install windows XP sp3 on  machines that had Windows vista home.  I'm using a Windows XP reinstall CD... I wipe (format) the entire hard drive.  However the install never ask for a product key.  Some how it puts the same product key on other computers.  I have a legit product key for each install.  It looks like the second machine gets hung up with system product key/system authentication and won't go any further.  Anybody ever had this happen... if so How did it get resolved...?
