How to create mail merge template for the case entity in MSCRM 4.0? RRS feed

  • I added a "IsMailMergeEnabled" tag with a value of "1" in the case customizations xml, imported and published it but "case" option still did not appear in the associated entity dropdown. Any idea? Thanks.

    is marked as an answer.  It doesn't seem to solve Sadtango's issue adding Mailmerge to a Case, the article in question relates to custom entities that don't get processed properly in an upgrade.  In fact there seems to be no method to add mailmerge to a case properly.  I'm proposing the following two options:

    1/ Tron Keefers answer on http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2008/03/14/mail-merge-and-more.aspx for Web  client
    Navigate to http://<server>/<tenant>/CS/home_cases.aspx.
    Make sure at least one entry exists.
    Replace the URL with javascript:WebMailMerge('crmGrid', 112);
    This will make a direct call to the javascript function that instantiates the mail merge for the incident entity object type of 112.

    2/ Ignore the Case/Incident entity and create a custom Case entity.  If you don't need to link it to Contracts and can work around not having a case resolution (maybe using javascript to lock the form once the statusreason is changed to resolved then this might work for you (alright you'll also have to deal with loss of Knowledgebase articles but it depends on the project details)
