WHS v1, 2 NICs, 2 Networks? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I live next door to my family and i would like if possible to share my server and it's content across our 2 networks. We both have internet Broadband with apple extreme routers.

My idea would be to run a cable from each house and install a second NIC into my server. Is this possible and if so is there any special configuration that i would need to do? I would also need to limit the second NIC so that it didn't use the wrong internet connection and that i would solely control it. The second NIC would only be used for accessing the folders within my shares.

I have read about this not being supported by WHS, but i do not want it to be integrated into WHS itself, but simply use the shares. It will not be used for example to backup machines etc, therefore was hoping to use the windows server 2003 side it was built upon.

  • You can install a second NIC, and just give them user names and they can login via their dashboads
