  • Update for Windows XP (KB934238)

The notification is that the "download failed!" or at least thats the error I'm getting. I have tried several times, with the same result. WGA is good and all other updates have installed fine. This is a new Dell so it has installed at least 60 other updates today.

  • Edward,

Please read the actual update located @:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934238/en-us .  This update pretains to

On non-English versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, some text in the print dialog box unexpectedly appears in English after you install the .NET Framework 3.0.  Do you require non-English versions?

  • It makes no sense for 'automatic updates' to offer the update KB934238 as a 'priority' to a machine on which it is not required - and to then show it has having failed. And then to tell us that we need to look it up in order to determine for ourselves whether we need it or not.

The point of 'automatic updates' would be that we don't need to go finding out what we need or not.

  • Hello,

Well thank you for the input. Please keep in mind this is a WGA forum and actually Windows Update is not within the scope of the forum. In turn I do try and provide as much assistance as possible. This actual update isnt required for all users. Also I can not determine if all customers require this update because it is based on geographical location.

Have a great week and again thank you for the input.

SOLVED! I just go ahead downloading Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300) after  unable to update for Windows XP (KB934238). I see why it won't success without updating MS .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1.

It's worked without failed! Smile, take care and God loves you all as do I. Bye... Andy

  • I too am having trouble installing Update for Windows XP (KB934238) -

I get a failure message time and again.  This last email from 3 Diamonds caught my eye.

I require a functional and fully updated  .NET Framework 3.0 -  to run Capture One 4 (a conversion software for raw photographs).  If I understand the previous email correctly by installing the service pack, Diamonds was able to install the needed XP update.  Further, maybe the missing service pack is why I my capture one keeps crashing.   How do I locate Service pack 1 for .Net Framework 3.0?  I have googled it but all I get is computer talk about it... no links...

Also... I realize that I am probably on the wrong forum - but with respect, Microsoft makes it incredibly challenging to find out where to go and how to solve problems...  When I do as I am told to click on "fail" to find out why my install failed I get sent in half a dozen directions that do not at all tell my why install failed.  Infact if you search for the word "fail"  you get zip.  If you guys are going to refer to things as failures then your troubleshooting tips should correspond to the language you choose.

Sorry for the rant but you seem to have a few answers....
