Building a Moss 2007 Server at Home RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to build a development server at home for Moss 2007 (Enterprise Edition).. I'm an experienced user and administrator of Sharepoint but a complete newbie to Servers (a PC'er!).

I have tried and tried but continuously come up with problems... so I am going back to square one and all I need to know is the following to get me started: Believe it or not I can not get a simple answer from googling or from Microsoft Tech download sites :-(

If I want to install Moss 2007 Enterprise:

    1) Which Microsft Server is the minimum and which is the optimum?  ie: MS Server 2003 standard or does it have to be R2?  Will this run the enterprise edition of Moss 2007

    2) What is the minimum ram etc required?

I am not looking for a detailed installation guide as in 'you need asp net 3 etc and add it to your allow list' as I am happy to work that through later on, but what I can not seem to get an answer too is what MS server software I need to install initially in order to then succesfully install moss 2007 enterprise!

Thanks in advance for any advice :-)
