Data Migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am a one man operation. I am just starting with CRM. I am in the trial phase, so I don't have any customization or extra bells an whistles.

I have all my data on ACT! contact manager by SAge Software.

I want to migrate all my data including notes and histories to microsoft CRM.  I tried downloading the data migration framework and Access was denied.  Can anyone help me try this?

  • You'll probably want to take a look at Starfish ETL. They have a pre-built migration solution for going ACT to Microsoft.

  • Can you export your act data to CSV or XML files. There are a few different types of files you can use with the CRM Data Import Wizard.

  • When i do a csv or xml file, the history and activities do not transfer.  I don't want to be disconnected from years worth of history with my customers.

  • It should be possible to import activities using the CRM Data Import Wizard, though there are a few limitations:

    • You have to export / import each entity type separately - e.g. task, email, phonecall
    • You will pnly be able to map one activityparty per field - i.e. only one recipient in the To list on an email, only one required attendee on an appointment
    • The body of an email can cause parsing problems, as it is encoded in HTML

Are you getting a specific error with the activity export or import ?

  • Hi there,

I'm aware this was posted a while ago but I thought this might be of some interest to you, especially if you did upgrade your CRM trial.

If you're looking to automatically integrate Sage data with CRM 2011 as an on-going thing then CRMapps (launched by Goldcrest Solutions, a leading MS Dynamics CRM partner) have a really good solution that could be of interest to you.

Our Sage 50 integration app allows for automatic data synchronisation between Sage 50 2012 and MS CRM 2011, either online or on premise. This app automatically transfers any new or changed data in CRM to Sage and vice versa, catering for all 1:N relationships. A great benefit this solution is that it’s easily customisable allowing the user to have total control over what data is transferred and when. It imports all historical information so you won't be leaving any of this behind.

By running these two systems in sync with each other it eliminates having to manually input new data into Sage and CRM - simply add it to one and it will automatically appear in the other! Ultimately it means you don't have to change your accounts process which we understand can be complicated - keep using Sage for accounts but reap the benefits of using CRM for everything else and this would definitely minimise the complexity of switching using CRM for you.

This solution is Microsoft Platform Ready and has already been successfully implemented with customers.

The best bit though is that it’s quick and easy to install and you can start using it straight away with no disruption to work flow. There’s a free trial you can download if you want to check it out for yourself - http://crmapps.co.uk/Sage-Line-50.aspx. Please contact sales@crmapps.co.uk and we’ll be happy to provide further information.
