    I have recently reinstalled windows xp home addition, and now I do not have sound. Is there anthing I can do, that won't cost me any money, in otherwords maybe a free download or something? I would appreciate, any assistance

    It has nothing to do with this forum, which is for development. Most likely you are missing a driver for your audio hardware, check device manager to see if it shows you  unidentified hardware and look for corresponding driver on the web, or vendor website etc.
