Re: "Incorrect" product key, OneNote 2007 on XP RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have exactly the sam eproblems and same downloads as suggested by  Corby in his question.
Weirdly when I called Microsoft support they said the key for One Note 2007 was valid.
Now I am waiting for a software engineer to call back an resolve the problem - I am glad I am not the only one seeing this

  • I have tried two times to buy it from Student.options so far none of the product keys work. Microsoft validating office cant help and student.options just offer to refund the money + advice you to try again! I like the software but cant understand why its made impssoble to buy and operate.

  • Hello Tkkidmose,

Please run the Genuine Diagnostics tool. This will help us indentify the problem you are experiencing. Next we will analyze the diagnostic results which you past back here in this thread. Also what country/location or state do you currently reside?

Download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.

Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.

    Thank you,

  • I contacted the person in the IT department at my University who is responsible for the MSDN Academic Alliance downloads.

He told me that ELMS had a problem with some of the keys and he needed to download some new files to correct the problem. He then "returned" my download which allowed me to download the software again.  I had to uninstall OneNote, install the new OneNote from the new download, and then use the new product key, which worked.  I wasn't able to simply use the new product key from the new download on the previous install.

    Same for Visio.

    Now it's all working fine.
