What is Communicator Phone Edition? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

When I went to the download center to find the latest Communicator 2007 updates, there was a Communicator 2007 Phone Edition.

What is the Communicator Phone Edition?  Is the Phone Edition for Windows Mobile devices?  Is it the version of Office Communicator that we use with VOIP PBX's?

    Clarification would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Communicator Phone Edition (CPE) is the version of Communicator that runs on MS-designed phone devices such as the Tanjay (aka Polycom CX700 and LG-Nortel IP8540).  CPE is different than Communicator Mobile (CoMo), which is what runs on Windows Mobile.

  • The devices are running Windows CE and are customized to support only Office Communications Server

This is a gallery of IP Phones (and some other USB phones you can use with OCS)
