In 2005 I bought a new computer through my local Power Co. It came with Windows XP loaded on it, which I still use 8 years later.
Last night when re-booting, when loading, it pops up with a message that my copy of Windows is not genuine. I've used it for 8 years with no problems! The tower came with / and still has, several stickers on the side .... one of them being the product key, showing a bar code underneath, and so on. I have 2 little icons sitting in my Windows tray at the bottom right, telling me 'This copy of Windows is not activated' and '3 days left for activation'. Being the paranoid self that I am ..... I assumed it was a virus of some sort, and have spent the last few hours running all sorts of virus scans with AVG on it.
In finding this site ...... I've read over problems that some folks are having, and I saw the link you had posted for one, for the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (1.9.0027.0). In running it ....... I have copied the result below. And the last 3 showing for product key DO match my product key on my sticker.
Is mine genuine? How do I proceed?

All looks normal to me except that it's not activated.
Have you attempted Activation over the internet?
Have you changed any hardware or drivers recently?
