I've used synctoy for backup of my small files like pictures and music. Can I use it for the much larger files like Windows and Program Files. I ran a preview of one such large sync, but decided to check with the forum before I actually go ahead and ok the file changes listed.
I used folder paths- C:\Program Files to K:\Local Disc\Program Files (wd backup drive)
Most of your files under c:\program files could be synced to your backup folder, but as there are a lot of files are using by system/application, those being used files could not be synced successfully, and errors will be reported too.
And also, as there are numbers of files, the sync progress will go very slow. If you must to sync them, try to split to more folder pairs.
But with my opinion, it will not be too much helpful for you to sync program file with SyncToy, as a lot of those files will be access, and maybe modified too, even some file properties, SyncToy will think there were changes, so it will do the sync again. I guess this is not what you want with using a tool do the syncing.
