Cant enable remote access on Windows home server 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows home server 2011 and when i go to the dashboard and click server settings and go under the Remote web access tab it

Updates the remote web access status and then it says The router is not working. I click on repair and it says Identifying and analyzing the remote web access issue and then i get two errors: "UPnP is not enabled on this router" but it is and "Remote web access on your server is blocked". How can i fix this?

    EDIT: I have a zyxel P-870HN-51b

  • WHS does not play well with some routers. Have you checked that it is not actually working from a remote Internet location? If so, and it's not, you will need to manually set up your router to forward Port 443 (https:// access) and optionally Port 80 (http://) to your server's internal IP address.

  • Sometimes, this trick will work.

Log onto your router and disable UPnP.  Reboot the router.  Log in again and enable UPnP.  Reboot the router.  Then try updating the Remote web access again.

  • Hi,

I think you need to follow the article to enable the UPnP on the router, there is a link for your reference:

Title: SBS 2011 Essentials: Router Setup
    URL: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3038.sbs-2011-essentials-router-setup.aspx

I think the issue should be related to the router, you need to correct the router setup first, and also you could try to enable the RWA for the user to verify whether RWA is allowed or not.

    Regards,
    James
