NAMD proformance issue Windows vs Linux RRS feed

  • Question

  • I started out using Windows 2016 as my compute nodes however when I run the benchmarks I was not getting the expected results that nVidia had published we should be getting. I then swtich to ReaHat and the proformance was better than that of what nVidia had published for running Aopa1 and STMV models, that is after a minor modification of the common.sh file to exclude ccgroups. is there somethning in Windows that can be preventing Windows from performing as good as Linux?

  • Hi,

Do you run the benchmark cross node? Could you share the link that nVidia published about perf on windows?

  • here is the link

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/gpu-accelerated-applications/namd/

I was running STMV and Apoa1 even on single nodes the performance was not close to what nvidia publish.

I will have to see if I still have the logs for the runs, but I don't think I do. but I still have one node that I have not converted.

I do remember that across 3 nodes (CPU36 each and 2 GPU each) the ns/day was just over 4
