Files won't sync unless on my home network

Question
-
I have a laptop that I use at home and at work and out in pulblic. If I am connected to my home network then all works fine. But if I am connected via my work or public networks it will not sync. I am doing full syncing with desktop and other systems. I have Vista Ultimate on the laptop. I am connecting via wifi mostly but sometimes via my Verizon Mifi card.

When you are using the PC in public does it sync with the Live Desktop?
This thread mentions a similar problem - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/4a5941c2-1405-44bf-8a09-848adaecf0a3
Are you using a 3rd party firewall on the PC that you connect to public WiFi with?
If you are unable to resolve it by dropping the firewall when connecting to a public network, which would suggest that some ports and/or the application needs to be allowed through the firewall, then please submit a bug report on Connect with logs from the traveling PC per the instructions here:How to Submit Bugs and Live Mesh Logs
and post a link to the bug report back here to this thread.
Thanks.

When I use the laptop on UMTS (GSM), so public network, there is no problem.
The thread was started by me. So, yes, it is similar.
The firewall is the standard Windows firewall, with Mesh allowed with internet scope. Firewall settings are the same when on the home network or the UMTS.
Mesh also reports that all is online and can be conntected to when I'm on the corporate network.
I can make a remote connection to the laptop and to the desktop from both locations.
It doesn't sound like a firewall problem. Why else would a new folder be sync'd when I create one, but not the files when I create or edit one?Friday, June 12, 2009 11:14 AM -
