Unable to update RRS feed

  • My OneCare icon turns orange. I click on it. I'm told to "Install missing updates" - I click on "Go to Website" - I get the following message from Live OneCare:

    No Internet connection was found
    In order to perform this action your computer must be connected to the internet. Please check your connection and try again.

    BUT I am connected.

    System: Windows XP SP3
    Browser: Firefox 3
    Windows Automatic Updates: ON

    This is the first time this happened with the exact same system that had no problem before.

    Thank you for contacting the Live OneCare program forums. I do not support 3rd party browsers.

     

    Please open Internet Explorer. Then open Internet Options under the Tools menu. Click on the Advanced Tab and then select Restore Advanced Settings and then select Reset...

     

    Then close IE and re-open. Then go to http://update.microsoft.com and follow the directions you are given.

  • Please note that Rick's statement about 3rd party browsers is not meant to infer that you can't use Firefox. It simply means that you should try using IE for Windows Update to see if it resolves the problem.

    In any event, I've moved your post to the Tune-up topic as it isn't a OneCare update issue, but a problem with OneCare and Windows Updates. Tune-up is what monitors the status of Automatic Updates and also checks to make sure that no critical updates are missing and have not yet been offered by AU.

    I recommend visiting the Windows Update Solution Center - http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527 for help with Windows Updates. If manually visiting WU reveals no missing critical/important updates, try the database reset tool -
