Modifying Field name in Contact RRS feed

  • Question

  • Sorry if this suggestion has been posted before.

Will WM 7 contact be the exactly same as previous WM 6, WM 5 or WM 2003? I have a suggestion for some improvements.

Outside US, it is very common to have a single contact to have 3 or more mobile numbers and many home / office numbers. US is much simpler by using a single phone number with many lines, but outside US many are still using many single line numbers.

In symbian, I really like the way they minimalize contact so only very few details are shown when I create new contact. I then can add numbers (or addresses) as many as possible and modify any detail names to my preference, for example I can change the "mobile 1" to "Blackberry", "mobile 2" to "iPhone" or "telephone 1" to "office operator", "telephone 2" to "office direct", etc.

With current contacts, I have to make multiple contacts for one person, for example "Bob Blackberry", 'Bob iPhone", "Bob Private Line", "Bob Office", "Bob Home" etc instead of just one "Bob".

The things I like the most about WM contacts are, when the phone rings, all the caller's data are shown (name, detail and phone number) instead of just the name only. Also when I dial the number manually, the list of names and numbers from both phone memory and sim card are shown. Don't ever change that.

  • The team has confirmed that in Windows Phone 7 "contacts can have multiple phone number, email, etc. entries.  In fact, Windows Phone 7 will even enable you to link data from various sources (i.e., contact info on your phone, an exchange server, from a social network) into a single contact card."
