SSRS 2008 on Win 2008 (http.sys) RRS feed

  • Question

  • OS: Windows 2008 R2
    SW: SQL 2008 Standard

    Hi,

Has anyone installed SSRS 2008 on a Windows 2008 R2 server? My question relates to the use of HTTP.sys in SQL 2008 and the installation of SSRS using this process instead of IIS.

Essentially neither the reports or reportserver virtual directories are being created in IIS, but rather hosted by HTTP.SYS.
Is this compatible with MS CRM?

    Thanks,
    Karlo

  • Hey Karlo,
I've got a customer that uses the HTTP.SYS on RS2008 with CRM. I didn't personally do the install (my colleague did), but CRM seems to be running fine.
A few "gotchas" to look out for:

    1. CRM is incompatible with Windows Server 2008 R2, you MUST update the installation files before installing CRM (that little option at the beginning of install). Be sure to get your server up to Update Rollup 8 (the latest version) via this method in order to insure a proper CRM installation.
    2. As long as you can navigate to the /ReportServer virtual directory.. it doesnt matter if IIS is hosting it or HTTP.sys. Be sure you can get there though :-).. if you can't see it, neither can CRM.
    3. You might need to run the good ole DisableLoopbackCheck registry key option for CRM to perform properly as well, just google "DisableLoopbackCheck" and you'll see what I mean.

Other than that, you should be good to go!
    Thanks
