  • Morgan,

Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office.  If you are getting a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft Office program, it is likely the trial period is over and you'll need to purchase a license (product key) for Microsoft Office.

The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows Vista (the operating system) and not for Microsoft Office.

  • Hi Stephen,

I don't think it was a trail version as it asked for the product key as soon as I had used microsoft word

Mods - please move to the Office Genuine forum.

Your problem would appear to be that you are using a Trial version of Office 2007 which has not been activated using a valid Office Key.
The Key on the COA Sticker on the computer is for Windows - not Office. You have to buy whichever version of Office you wish to use, from a reputable store, to be able to continue to use it after the end of the Trial.

If you have reinstalled from Recovery disks and previously had a full version of Office installed, you will have to find the packaging that came with the purchase of Office that you made originally - the key should be there.
